200 Year Old Crater spotted on NASA Satellite

I thought this picture was really cool. From the cellar, someone posted a pic from NASA which seems pretty ordinary.

Look closely at the bottom section of the picture. That large ring you see is actually a crater, which is over 200 million years old!! It is one of the oldest impact craters known in the world.

Located in Northern Canada, take a look for yourself. Space eye view courtesy of NASA ;)

Pretty cool and right in our own home.

Top Five Places to Travel for St. Patty's Day!

St. Patrick's Day is a huge holiday, especially in the United States and Ireland (who would have thunk it? :)). There are over 34 million Irish Americans living in the U.S, and it is widely celebrated in many countries.

According to Yahoo Travel, there are five really GREAT places to spend your St. Patrick's Day, all within the United States of America!

1) Boston - An estimated 850,000 people are expected to visit the city in 2007 for the week-long St. Patty's Day celebration. This place will be booming and the parade will be incredible like every year.

2) Chicago - Chicago's St. Patrick's Day Parade kicks off with the dyeing of the Chicago River green at 10:45 am, a tradition that started in 1962. What is REALLY interesting about this, is that the dye is poured into the water as Orange. How it gets green, no one really knows. Maybe the luck of the irish. ;)

3) Los Angeles - Known already for it's culture, St. Patrick's Day is a huge festival all weekend long. From concerts, fun rides, parades, and much much more, LA offers a great weekend experience.

4) New Orleans - You know, I don't even think I will comment on this. Does any place know how to throw a party, quite like New Orleans? That was my thoughts exactly :)

5) New York City - The big Apple is amazing any time you visit. We had the privledge to go in the winter time ;) but it was still one of the most amazing places we have ever been. New York is home to the worlds biggest St. Patrick's Day parade with over 2 million visitors every year.

Well, there you have it! I hope you had a great St. Patrick's Day weekend and the luck of the irish found it's way to you! All the best, be safe!

Climate Changing Travel - A Big Part of Our Future!

Peter Greenberg has a great article on his site talking about the effects of global warming in the next years to come. Some of these realizations are very shocking, here is a small clip of some of the top tourist destinations that could be affected:

Everglades, Florida: Due to increasing frequency of hurricanes;

Taj Coral Reef, Maldives: Rising sea levels will put much of the area underwater;

Cologne Cathedral, Germany: Already considered "at risk," this monument may be irreparably damaged from pollution;

Great Barrier Reef: Cruise ships are being blamed for damaging one of the world's largest marine ecosystems;

Athens, Greece: We're already seeing temperatures of more than 40C, which is expected to be exacerbated;

Tuscany, Italy: Heat waves and a rapid increase in wildlife threaten to make this a less attractive tourist spot

Definitely give the entire article a read and let's hope we can start to take care of our planet; Something that is long overdue!

Help Save Animals That Cannot Save Themselves!

A very good friend of mine sent this to us and we thought that it is something we definitely should share. Please read through this short blog and take a quick 5 minutes to really help out animals that can not protect themselves. Someone has to take care of these creatures.

I've just signed it and it's a really worthwhile campaign - Japan is killing over 20,000 dolphins and small whales annually, most of which are ending up in meat markets. It's brutal and needless and is being subsidized by the international aquarium industry.

If you click on the following link you can potentially help stop the current negotiations for the sale and transfer of 12 bottlenose dolphins from secret Japanese killing coves to the Ocean World Adventure Park, a Dominican Republic amusement park. WAYN have set up this petition so that our signatures can potentially make a difference not only in this particular instance but in raising public awareness for the issue.

It will only take a few moments so please click here and make a difference with me:

Stop the killing and start saving animal lives. This is a worthwhile cause to everyone!

Until Next time, happy travels!
